Premium wood ceiling panels that combine superior sound absorption with timeless natural aesthetics — manufactured in India, trusted pan-India by architects, interior designers, and builders.

Wooden acoustic ceiling tiles are engineered ceiling panels that absorb sound, reduce echo, and control reverberation — while delivering the warmth and visual elegance of natural wood. Unlike standard false ceilings that do nothing for room acoustics, these tiles serve simultaneously as a premium design feature and a fully functional acoustic treatment.
Sound, when it enters a room, bounces off hard surfaces — walls, floors, glass, and bare ceilings — creating echo, reverberation, and background noise that reduces speech clarity, causes listener fatigue, and makes spaces uncomfortable. Wooden acoustic ceiling tiles solve this problem by absorbing a significant portion of those sound reflections before they can bounce back into the room.
At Ecotone Acoustic Limited (Packsound), we design and manufacture a complete range of wooden acoustic ceiling tiles and wood ceiling panels for commercial, institutional, hospitality, and residential projects across India. Every panel is engineered to meet specific NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) targets and fabricated to your exact dimensions, finish, and perforation design.
Whether you are an architect specifying materials for a 1,000-seat auditorium, a contractor delivering a corporate office fitout, or an interior designer elevating a luxury hotel lobby — our wooden ceiling tiles give you the acoustic performance and visual refinement your project demands.
Today, architects and interior designers across India are embracing wooden acoustic ceiling panels not just for their visual appeal, but also for their impressive ability to control sound and enhance acoustics. Unlike traditional materials, wood ceiling tiles naturally absorb noise, helping to create peaceful and productive environments.
At Ecotone Acoustic Limited, we specialize in crafting premium wooden acoustic ceiling tiles made from high-quality, sustainable materials. Our ceiling systems are designed to deliver superior sound performance, long-lasting durability, and exceptional design versatility. Whether you’re exploring modern wood ceiling designs or searching for the best wood ceiling material in India, this detailed guide will help you understand everything — from types and materials to applications and maintenance — so you can make the right choice for your project.
Features :-
Wooden ceiling panels are not just about appearance — they create an atmosphere of sophistication while improving room acoustics. Whether you’re designing a workspace, auditorium, or lounge, wood acoustic panels absorb sound and reduce echo, ensuring a comfortable and noise-free environment.
Improved sound insulation
Elegant and timeless aesthetic
Energy-efficient and eco-friendly
Adds value to interiors
The versatility of wood ceiling tiles makes them ideal for architects and designers looking for sustainable and customizable ceiling solutions.
Wood is one of the most acoustically intelligent and visually compelling ceiling materials available. When engineered into perforated or grooved ceiling panels with an absorptive backing, it delivers a combination no other material can match.
Acoustic Performance
Wooden acoustic ceiling tiles achieve NRC values from 0.55 to 0.95 depending on panel type, thickness, perforation ratio, and plenum cavity depth. This means they absorb 55%–95% of sound energy that strikes them — dramatically cutting reverberation time and echo in any space.
Natural Warmth & Biophilic Design
Wood brings a sense of warmth, calm, and nature into built interiors that no synthetic material can replicate. Biophilic design — the practice of connecting interior spaces to natural materials — has been shown to improve wellbeing, productivity, and comfort for occupants. Wooden ceiling tiles are one of the most effective ways to achieve this effect.
Unmatched Customisability
Our wood ceiling panels are available in veneer, laminate, and painted finishes across 100+ colour and texture options. Perforation patterns, groove spacing, panel sizes, edge profiles — all can be tailored to your specific project requirements. No two projects look identical.
Superior Durability
Built from high-density MDF/HDF substrates (700–850 kg/m³), our panels resist sagging, warping, and moisture. Unlike mineral fibre or gypsum tiles that crumble or sag over time, wood-based ceiling panels maintain their form and finish for decades.
Fire Safety
Fire-rated variants of our wooden acoustic ceiling tiles are available, tested as per BS 476 Parts VI & VII (Class 0 / Class 1), making them fully compliant for use in auditoriums, airports, hospitals, shopping malls, and all public-assembly buildings.
Sustainability
Our panels are manufactured from sustainably sourced wood fibre conforming to IS 14587:1998. Low-VOC, low-formaldehyde variants are available for LEED-certified and green building projects. Wood wool panels are made from natural wood fibre without synthetic binders, offering a genuinely eco-friendly ceiling solution.
Easy Installation & Maintenance
Designed for direct lay-in on standard T-24/T-15 suspended ceiling grid systems, our tiles require no specialist tools or skills. Panels can be individually lifted and replaced for above-ceiling services access without disturbing the rest of the ceiling.
Our most popular and widely specified wooden acoustic ceiling tile. Fabricated from high-density pre-laminated MDF or HDF boards, these tiles feature precisely drilled circular perforations that allow sound waves to pass through into a Rockwool or acoustic fleece backing layer, where they are absorbed and converted to heat energy.
The result is a ceiling tile that looks like a natural wood panel from below — elegant, refined, warm — while actively working to eliminate echo and reverberation in the space above.
Technical Specifications:
Ideal Applications: Corporate offices, conference rooms, co-working spaces, retail showrooms, restaurants, hotel lobbies, healthcare reception areas, educational classrooms.
These tiles are also an excellent complement to our Grooved Wooden Acoustic Panels when used on adjacent walls for a cohesive wood acoustic system across the full room envelope.
Grooved ceiling panels use precisely carved surface channels combined with back-perforations to achieve outstanding sound absorption through a combination of porous absorption and Helmholtz resonator cavity effects. The linear groove pattern creates a strong architectural statement that is particularly popular in premium commercial and hospitality projects.
Technical Specifications:
Ideal Applications: Auditoriums, multiplex cinemas, music halls, lecture halls, hotel ballrooms, boardrooms, banquet halls, recording studios, places of worship.
Our Grooved Wooden Slats are available for both wall and ceiling applications, making it easy to create a unified acoustic treatment across an entire room.
Our most precision-engineered wooden acoustic ceiling tile. The perforation holes are as small as 0.50mm–1mm in diameter — invisible to the naked eye from normal viewing distance. This makes micro-perforated panels the premium choice for projects where the absolute highest visual quality is required alongside excellent acoustic performance.
The surface of each panel is drilled with thousands of micro-perforations at 2mm centre-to-centre spacing, creating an effective acoustic absorber that is undetectable as a perforated product. The top sheet is a 0.50mm mica laminate with micro-perforation, bonded over a high-density MDF/HDF base.
Technical Specifications:
Ideal Applications: Museums, art galleries, luxury hotel suites, premium offices, executive boardrooms, healthcare consulting rooms, airport lounges, high-end residential interiors.

Wood wool panels represent a return to the most natural form of acoustic ceiling tile — manufactured from compressed natural wood fibres without any synthetic resin or harmful binders. The fibres are entangled and compressed into a rigid board that achieves high NRC values through a fibrous absorption mechanism.
Wood wool is inherently fire-resistant, moisture-tolerant, and impact-resistant — making it the preferred choice for sports halls, food courts, natatoriums, and industrial canteens where other materials degrade quickly.
Technical Specifications:
Ideal Applications: Gymnasium halls, swimming pool enclosures, food courts, sports halls, industrial canteens, educational buildings, government buildings, outdoor-facing or semi-enclosed spaces.
Our standard MDF acoustic ceiling panels offer the ideal balance of acoustic performance, visual quality, and cost-effectiveness. Available in natural wood veneer or high-pressure laminate (HPL) finish, these tiles deliver the look and feel of premium wood at a more accessible price point.
Technical Specifications:
Ideal Applications: Corporate offices, co-working spaces, restaurants, clinics, home theatres, school classrooms, IT parks, BPO offices.
For projects that demand maximum design impact, our perforated wooden slat system combines long linear panels in open-joint arrangements to create dramatic visual depth while achieving excellent acoustic performance. The open joints between slats expose the absorptive backing, increasing the effective absorption area significantly.
These slat systems are highly configurable — vary slat width, gap width, finish, and backing material to tune both the aesthetics and the NRC to your exact project specification.

Our wood ceiling panels are specified and installed in diverse project types across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and every major Indian city:
Corporate & Commercial Spaces
Open-plan offices suffer from noise and distraction. Wooden acoustic ceiling tiles installed over workstations reduce ambient noise levels by 8–12 dB and cut reverberation time to under 0.6 seconds — significantly improving concentration and speech intelligibility. See how our solutions work for Acoustic Office Pods and workplace acoustics.
Hospitality — Hotels, Restaurants & Resorts
Guests judge a hotel by its atmosphere. A lobby with a long reverberation time feels chaotic; one treated with wood acoustic ceiling panels feels warm and intimate. Our tiles are installed in hotel lobbies, restaurants, spas, banquet halls, and conference centres nationwide.
Auditoriums, Cinemas & Theatres
Acoustic precision matters most in performance venues. Our grooved wooden ceiling tiles combined with our Auditorium Acoustic Treatment services ensure every seat hears clear, balanced sound. We are a preferred supplier for auditorium projects in schools, colleges, government buildings, and multiplex cinema chains.
Educational Institutions
Classrooms, lecture halls, libraries, and music rooms all benefit from acoustic ceiling treatment. Studies show that children’s learning outcomes improve significantly in acoustically optimised classrooms. Our MDF and perforated wood ceiling panels provide cost-effective acoustic treatment for schools and universities.
Healthcare Facilities
Hospitals and clinics require low reverberation for speech privacy, patient comfort, and reduced stress. Our moisture-resistant and easy-to-clean wooden ceiling panels are used in hospital corridors, OPD areas, waiting rooms, and doctor’s consultation rooms.
Sports Facilities & Gymnasiums
High-volume spaces with hard floors and walls create punishing acoustic environments. Our wood wool and perforated MDF ceiling tiles deliver the high NRC values needed to tame reverberant gymnasiums, indoor sports halls, and multi-purpose halls.
Residential — Premium Homes & Home Theatres
Discerning homeowners are increasingly specifying wooden acoustic ceiling tiles in home theatre rooms, music practice rooms, and open-plan living areas to improve sound quality and reduce echo. Our MDF veneer tiles are particularly popular for high-end residential projects.
Public Buildings & Government Projects
Airports, metro stations, railway concourses, court rooms, conference halls, and government assembly halls all benefit from acoustic ceiling treatment. Our fire-rated wooden ceiling panels meet all public-building safety standards.
Many specifiers and buyers ask how wooden acoustic ceiling tiles compare to other available options. Here is an objective comparison:
vs. Mineral Fibre (Armstrong-type) Ceiling Tiles
Mineral fibre tiles are the most widely-used acoustic ceiling product in India. They offer reasonable NRC values (0.55–0.70) at low cost, but they sag in humidity, look dated in premium interiors, crumble on handling, and have very limited design options. Wooden acoustic ceiling tiles offer superior NRC, dramatically better aesthetics, much greater durability, and full customisation — at a higher price point that is justified for commercial and premium projects.
vs. Gypsum Ceiling Tiles
Gypsum tiles offer almost no acoustic absorption (NRC 0.05–0.15). They are structural, durable, and fire-resistant, but they do nothing to improve room acoustics. In spaces where both structure and acoustics matter, wooden acoustic ceiling tiles mounted on a sub-grid above a gypsum framework are often the ideal combined solution.
vs. Metal Perforated Ceiling Tiles
Our Micro Perforated Metal Ceiling tiles offer excellent durability and Class A fire ratings, and work well in industrial, airport, and heavy-use environments. Wood tiles, however, deliver warmer aesthetics and are preferred for hospitality, education, and commercial interiors where visual quality is as important as acoustic performance.
vs. Acoustic Foam Panels on Ceiling
Acoustic foam panels offer very high NRC but are visually unattractive and unsuitable for finished interiors. They are used in recording studios and practice rooms but are not appropriate for corporate offices, hotels, or auditoriums. Wooden acoustic ceiling tiles provide professional aesthetics alongside comparable or better NRC performance.
vs. Fabric Acoustic Ceiling Panels
Fabric acoustic panels offer excellent NRC and can be used as ceiling clouds or baffles. They provide colour variety and good design flexibility but do not deliver the premium tactile quality and natural warmth of real wood. For projects where wood aesthetics are a design priority, wooden ceiling tiles are the clear choice.
Our wooden acoustic ceiling tiles work best as part of a complete ceiling acoustic system. Ecotone offers the following complementary ceiling acoustic products that can be combined with wooden ceiling tiles for optimal room acoustic performance:
Acoustic Hanging Baffles — Vertical suspended panels for open-plan spaces and high-ceiling areas where a flat ceiling system is not possible or practical. Particularly effective in atriums, airport concourses, and industrial canteens.
Wooden Acoustic Hanging Baffles — Wood-finish vertical baffles that match the aesthetic of our wooden ceiling tiles, creating a visually unified acoustic system from floor to ceiling.
Acoustic Hanging Clouds — Floating horizontal panels suspended at strategic heights to address specific acoustic hotspots in a room without covering the entire ceiling.
Mineral Fiber Clouds and Polyester Fiber Clouds — Cost-effective cloud solutions for large open spaces.
Ceiling Acoustic Treatments — Our acoustic design consultancy service includes ceiling acoustic analysis, reverberation time calculation, and product specification for your project.
Fiberglass Ceiling Tiles — High-NRC fiberglass-core ceiling tiles as an alternative or complement to wood tiles.
Sleek Design Acoustic Ceiling Panels — Modern minimalist ceiling panel systems for contemporary commercial interiors.
Our wooden acoustic ceiling tiles are designed for fast, straightforward installation by skilled ceiling contractors using standard suspended ceiling equipment.
Step 1 — Plan the Grid Layout Mark the ceiling level and establish the T-bar grid layout. Standard module is 600×600mm or 600×1200mm depending on tile size selected.
Step 2 — Install Main T-Bar Fix main T-bar (minimum 3000mm length, 35mm web height) at 600mm centre-to-centre along the room’s length. Hang supporting wires from the structural ceiling at 1200mm intervals along each main T-bar.
Step 3 — Install Cross T-Bar Lock in cross T-bar sections (600mm or 1200mm length, 35mm web) to form the grid modules. Ensure grid is level using a spirit level.
Step 4 — Install Rockwool Infill (Recommended) For maximum NRC performance, lay 50mm compressed Rockwool (48 kg/m³, conforming to IS 8183) on top of the grid before placing tiles. This increases NRC by 0.10–0.20 across all panel types.
Step 5 — Lay in Ceiling Tiles Place wooden acoustic ceiling tiles into the grid so that panel edges sit on T-bar flanges. Face of tile should sit at or just below the grid plane. Tiles are simply lowered in — no adhesive or fasteners required.
Step 6 — Install Edge Trims Fit perimeter edge angle trims to finish the ceiling cleanly at walls.
Tile Removal for Maintenance: Any individual tile can be pushed up and swung to one side for above-ceiling access, then replaced without tools or damage to adjacent tiles.

Q: What NRC value do wooden acoustic ceiling tiles achieve?
A: NRC values range from 0.55 to 0.95 depending on panel type, thickness, perforation ratio, and plenum depth. Standard 16mm perforated MDF tiles with 50mm Rockwool backing typically achieve NRC 0.75–0.85. Wood wool tiles at 25mm thickness achieve up to 0.80. We provide certified NRC test reports for all products.
Q: Are wooden acoustic ceiling tiles fire-rated?
A: Yes. Ecotone offers fire-rated wooden acoustic ceiling tiles tested as per BS 476 Parts VI & VII (Class 0 and Class 1). These are available and recommended for auditoriums, hospitals, airports, schools, and all public-assembly buildings. Please specify fire-rating requirement when requesting a quote.
Q: Can I get custom sizes and finishes?
A: Yes — all our wooden ceiling panels are manufactured to order. We produce custom dimensions, perforation patterns, groove spacing, edge profiles, and surface finishes. Minimum order quantities apply for custom specifications.
Q: What is the price of wooden acoustic ceiling tiles in India?
A: Pricing starts at approximately ₹125–₹250 per sq. ft. for standard MDF perforated tiles depending on thickness, finish, and order quantity. Premium veneer, micro-perforated, and fire-rated variants are priced higher. Contact our team with your project area and specification for a detailed quotation.
Q: How do wooden acoustic ceiling tiles differ from standard false ceiling tiles?
A: Standard false ceiling tiles (gypsum, PVC, or plain MDF) have NRC values below 0.15 — meaning they reflect more than 85% of sound energy back into the room. Wooden acoustic ceiling tiles have NRC values of 0.65–0.95, absorbing most of the sound energy that strikes them. The perforations, backing material, and air gap are what create acoustic absorption.
Q: What is the difference between perforated and grooved wooden ceiling tiles?
A: Perforated panels use circular holes to pass sound waves through to the backing absorber — effective across a broad frequency range. Grooved panels use surface channels plus Helmholtz resonator cavity effects to target mid-to-low frequencies — preferred for auditoriums and music spaces where bass control is important.
Q: Are wooden ceiling panels eco-friendly?
A: Yes. Our panels use sustainably sourced wood fibre conforming to IS 14587:1998. Wood wool panels are made from 100% natural wood fibre with no synthetic binders. Low-VOC and low-formaldehyde variants are available for LEED and green building certification projects.
Q: Can these tiles be used in humid environments?
A: Our standard MDF tiles are suitable for normal interior humidity levels (up to 70% RH). For high-humidity areas such as gymnasiums, swimming pools, and food courts, we recommend our Wood Wool tiles, which offer Class A moisture resistance and do not sag or delaminate in wet conditions.
Q: How long do wooden acoustic ceiling tiles last?
A: With proper installation and normal interior use, our high-density MDF and HDF ceiling tiles last 20–25 years with minimal maintenance. Wood wool tiles have an even longer service life. Tiles can be individually replaced if damaged without disturbing the rest of the ceiling.
Q: Do you supply and install, or supply only?
A: Ecotone supplies materials directly. We also have a network of approved installation contractors across India and can provide on-site technical supervision for large projects. Contact us to discuss your project location and requirements.
Q: What standards do your products conform to?
A: Our wooden acoustic ceiling tiles conform to IS 14587:1998 (MDF boards), IS 8183 (Rockwool infill), and are tested to ASTM E1050 or ISO 354 for NRC. Fire-rated variants are tested to BS 476 Parts VI & VII. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified.
